Coding is a gateway to understanding the future
According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, 65% of today’s school children will be in jobs that have not yet been invented.
Learning to code gives children the opportunity to understand the technologies that will be the foundation of their future, irrespective of education or career path.
Coding camps introduce children to essential technologies
Together with TechSpark Academy, Nexthink organizes multi-day workshops where university students teach 8-18-year-olds modern programming languages (Python, the world’s most popular programming language and Apple’s Swift) and 21st century skills (cybersecurity, robotics, 3D printing).TechSpark Academymulti-day workshops
Why focus on girls?
In Europe, only 16.7% of ICT positions are held by women. According to research, girls and boys are initially equally interested in STEM topics until the age of 13, after which social pressure and stereotypes influence girls to lose interest.
However, research by Microsoft indicates that girls who are supported by a parent are 81% more likely to study STEM subjects in high-school. Nexthink aims to help with this by encouraging parents to aid their girls in learning technical skills from a young age.
