Rebooting a device is a key activity to maintain its overall health and performance. In fact, in many cases, slow or sluggish PCs can be remediated with a simple restart allowing the device to finally update, close unnecessary apps or refresh its memory, for example. Unfortunately, most employees do not follow this best practice. \n\nThe Automate Device Restart / Logoff / Shutdown Windows Library Pack solves that problem.\n\nThis solution allows IT teams to define a “days since last reboot” threshold. Devices which pass that threshold will receive an automated Engage Campaign prompting them to restart. Note that this solution offers employees the option to refuse or postpone the action.\n\nWith this automated self-heal feature, IT can proactively prevent employees from experiencing common issues that can be solved with a quick restart, without disrupting their daily workflow.\n\nAlternatively, this solution comes with the ability to immediately trigger a restart, reboot, or log off on the user device without employee engagement.

This remote action retrieves information to determine whether a restart is necessary due to prolonged device uptime or a pending reboot. Based on the provided input, it configures the restart of the target device. A campaign is displayed to give users the option for an immediate restart or to postpone it until the next script execution. After the restart, any applications previously opened by the user will be restored.\n\nIf the user should have the option to select a delay before the device restarts, set the 'User chosen restart delay' input field to 'true.' Otherwise, the delay specified in the input parameter 'RestartDelayInSeconds' will be utilized.\n\nWhen the user-chosen restart delay is set to 'true,' the campaign identified as 'Campaign ID with delay' will be activated, allowing the user to choose from the options: 'Restart in 1 minute' , 'Restart in 10 minutes', or 'Postpone'.\n\n**Ideal Target Environment**\n\n- **Supported Platforms:**\n    - Windows: Windows 10 onwards\n\n- **Windows Server Compatibility:** No.    

The script should be executed every 1 day.

Number of days considered as maximum allowed without device restart. Accepted values are (0-60)

Number of days since last reboot

Test if a reboot is needed. Accepted values are (True/False)

Test pending restart

Determines under what circumstances the campaign should be shown. Accepted values are (Always/DuringGracePeriod/OnlyFirstExecution/Never)

Id of a campaign to be presented to user before triggering restart without option for the user to choose the restart delay

Campaign ID with delay

Number of days provided for user to postpone campaign, verified with hourly precision. Once due date is passed, restart will be scheduled. Accepted values are (1-30)

Postpone grace period in days

Number of seconds provided as delay before restart is executed. Accepted values are (45-86400)

Restart delay in seconds

Number of seconds provided before the campaign times out. Accepted values are (60-600). This input will only be taken into account when ShowCampaign input is different from never

Campaign timeout

Setting this value to 'true' will invoke the campaign 'Campaign ID with delay' with the option for the user to choose the restart delay. Setting to 'false' will invoke the campaign 'Campaign ID without delay' and the delay value from 'RestartDelayInSeconds' input parameter will be used. Accepted values are (True/False)
