University College London Hospitals selects Nexthink for greater intelligence on IT infrastructure
NHS Foundation Trust employs End-user IT Analytics to improve system performance allowing for delivery of the best patient care
January 30, 2014 – Lausanne – Nexthink®, the unique provider of End-user IT Analytics, has today announced that its V5 modular platform has been selected by University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust to provide real-time visibility and analytics across its technical estate and network infrastructure.
Nexthink V5 pro-actively monitors IT networks and reports on important end-user related events, such as changes in the IT infrastructure, application usage and bandwidth, error messages and crashes, as well as potential security risks, ensuring that the performance of IT services is recorded and uniquely visualised from the all-important perspective of the end-user.
“Information technology is essential in enabling top-quality levels of patient care and the delivery of world class research and education,” said James Thomas, director of ICT at UCLH. “Nexthink’s End-user IT Analytics will deliver increased levels of intelligence on IT asset performance and utilisation. This will result in immediate tactical improvements as efficiencies are improved, whilst informing long term strategic investments by increasing value and reducing costs.”
UCLH provides academically-led acute and specialist healthcare services and is located in the heart of London. One of the largest NHS trusts in the UK, it turned over £840 million in 2012/13 and has contracts with over 70 commissioning bodies. During the reporting period UCLH treated 870,000 outpatients and admitted 150,000 inpatients. The Trust comprises six hospitals: University College Hospital (UCH), National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN), Eastman Dental Hospital (EDH), Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital (RNTNEH), Heart Hospital (HH) and the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM).
Mark Taglietti, head of ICT Service Delivery & Vendor Management at UCLH, states “We are working hard to deliver improved levels of system availability, performance and service quality across our technical estate, whilst always looking to free up resources and lower costs. Ultimately, more robust, secure and standardised IT services will allow our frontline practitioners to carry out their work more effectively, resulting in the delivery of improved patient care, patient services and patient experience.”
He adds, “Embracing platforms such as Nexthink V5 will deliver the intelligence and management reporting required to enable this approach. Nexthink V5 is a unique solution, and the end-user perspective it offers of our entire IT infrastructure will help us achieve our ambitious goals going forward.”
“We are pleased to welcome UCLH as our customer,” said Tim Pollard, vice president Europe at Nexthink. “The intelligence and network visibility provided by IT operations analytics can deliver tangible benefits to healthcare providers by maximising operational efficiencies, reducing IT costs, and improving compliance and quality of IT services.”
