Is a Recent Merger or Acquisition Impacting Your Security? How An Organization Restored 90% Compliance in One Day
Just how effective can an employee engagement campaign be? Consider this: A single Nexthink Engage campaign prompted 90% of employees to update their browser in one day.
When it comes to mergers and acquisitions, 90% is often associated with the failure rate cited by Harvard Business Review, not the employee response rate to a compliance campaign. However, this biopharmaceutical company leveraged Nexthink Engage to drive employee compliance and the success of two merging IT ecosystems.
As the IT teamed worked to combine two organizations and deliver one seamless employee experience, they realized thousands of the newly acquired employees had downloaded the personal version of Google Chrome. 5,200 employees to be exact. By doing so, these employees didn’t just download a browser: they failed to protect the organization from the security risks brought on by Shadow IT.
While there are many issues caused by Shadow IT, security is far and away the most serious. And that was the case with this organization. If employees didn’t update to the latest version of Google Chrome, they exposed the organization to a substantial security risk. In the past, they may have sent an email or scheduled IT appointments with each employee, but this IT organization needed to act fast.
Using Nexthink, they accessed a list of every employee out of compliance with the personal version of Google Chrome. Then, they sent a targeted Nexthink Engage education campaign, prompting them to click the green button within their browser to update. The IT team explained the security risk of not updating in the campaign to ensure employees took action immediately. And they did!
The campaign was sent to 5,200 employees that were out of compliance, and within one day, 4,700 employees upgraded their browsers. That’s 90% – one of the highest response rates this organization had seen.
For the 10% who didn’t act, they sent a follow-up Engage campaign to give each employee an additional chance to comply.
This biopharmaceutical company showed how targeted pop-up notifications – that take less than 15-seconds for employees to read and respond to – can enforce new compliance standard and bring organizations one step closer to a unified IT ecosystem.
